The Gardening Club is a very popular group based at the Village Hall. Meetings are held at on the first Wednesday of the month 7.30pm - 9.00pm, generally at the Hall, though there are some visits out. You can just turn up to any of the meetings as below:
Programme for 2025
- 1st January - No meeting.
- 5th February - Adrienne from Chorley Hedgehog Rescue will give an insight into her volunteer work at the centre.
- 5th March - Louise Bentley is a Conservation Officer with Lancs Wildlife Trust and will talk about "The Plight of the Humble Bee".
- 2nd April - Caroline Luke from Dale House, Goosnargh will talk about "Spring Flowering".
- 7th May - Diane Harrison from Avant Garden Centre, Leyland demonstrates baskets and tubs for summer.
- 4th June - Jacqueline Iddon; whose garden is at Eccleston will talk about "Shady Characters and Sunshine Susies".
- 2nd July - Members only evening- visiting members Open Gardens in Grimsargh, followed by tea and cake!
- 6th August - Our annual day trip on a Brethertons Coach to Harewood House and Gardens.
- 3rd September - Steve Halliwell will give an illustrated talk on Abbey Gardens, Tresco on the Isles of Scilly.
- 1st October - AGM - followed by Quiz and plant swap.
- 5th November - Matthew Smith from Brighter Blooms, Walton talks to us about Tulips. His Tulip Open Days in spring are very popular. You can see many varieties in bloom and order bulbs from him.
- 3rd December - Annual Christmas Meal - details TBD.
