The Gardening Club is a very popular group based at the Village Hall. Meetings are held at on the first Wednesday of the month 7.30pm - 9.00pm, generally at the Hall, though there are some visits out. You can just turn up to any of the meetings as below:
Programme for 2024
- 3rd January - No meeting
- 7th February - Steve Halliwell giving a talk on "A Story of the Humble Snowdrop"
- 6th March - A member of the Lancashire Wildlife Trust will be giving a talk on "A Swift Recovery"
- 3rd April - Stan Pearson will talk about three brothers who who successfully ran Bells Nursery, specialising in dahlias
- 1st May - Margaret Fletcher talks about The National Garden Scheme of which she is Assistant County Organiser
- 5th June - a visit from Annie of Lets Grown Preston who will talk about helping local communities to brighten up green spaces to improve wellbeing
- 3rd July - Members only evening, visiting members Open Gardens in Longridge, followed by tea and cake!
- 7th August - Day trip on a Brethertons Coach to Newby House and Gardens
- 4th September - Dorothy Eastham, AKA "The Pineapple Lady" tells us of her success in growing pineapples in her greenhouse
- 2nd October - AGM - followed by Caroline Luke on autumn planting, a quiz and refreshments
- 6th November - Florist Kay Lomax demonstrates Christmas decorations and wreaths
- 6th December - Christmas Meal - details TBD
